Smoke Free Aparment Building - That Means in the Unit as well!
So the Guy in 3 C likes his cigars, then there’s the over-achieving single woman in 8 E who is alway puffing on a cigarette, while the Newly Weds from Key West in 5 D well… its a distinctive smell that comes from their apartment.
Sound like your apartment building? Although a lot of the Apartment Buildings in Boston are nonsmoking (see unit with a balcony) they are enforced by the buildings owner or management company. Not mandated by State Law. Thats about to change… in California at least.
I was cleaning up old newspapers from my desk today and for some reason USA Today was there? Not a normal read for me, but there on the front page was an article about how the California Assembly is drafting Laws that will limit renters rights to smoke in their leased premises.
I enjoy the occasional cigar and have a bit of a libertarian streak in me so I find it tough to understand limiting these lessee(s) rights. Until of course I walk into the next building occupied by a heavy smoker. I would look to split the middle in this situation - allowing smokers to smoke, while maybe instituting hallway and unit air filters that keep the air odor free.
Let me know what you think.. You for or Against this and please let me know if you smoke or not?
Thanks, James
